staying

sometimes you’re told to stay and even though everything in you fights against staying you want to be obedient to god more than the allure of wanderlust and yet knowing too that seasons will pass and winter will end and someday, somehow in some miraculous look what god did that’s where you’ll see the hindsight 20/20 of the roots growing deep and the learning how to handle the staying and the learning how to feel the stark pain of winter because snow is cold and bites deep even though it’s pretty and somewhere in there you learn a little more of this dance called life where you see that god is faithful to complete the work he started which is transforming you into the likeness of his son jesus christ who died on a cross and as paul and the disciples learned there’s suffering to be had and suffering to be rejoicing in and trusting to be done in the dark, long nights of winter.
