heart booty kick

“The laments are refusals to settle for the way things are. They are acts of relentless hope that believes no situation falls outside Yahweh’s capacity for transformation. No situation falls outside of Yahweh’s responsibility.”

“We forget that change comes through brutal honesty and vulnerability before God.”

God likes to send me little love notes in the form of books.  I’ve been ever so loved to win giveaways, find cheap books, borrow books, buy books, and gather all sorts of books.  Last night, He gave me another “I’m thinking of you, baby girl.”

I decided to head to the gym for a date with Mr. Recumbent Bicycle.  We like to hang out and prefer to dabble in the realm of the written word to pass the time.  Though, I wanted something different to read and something new.  I scoured my room for the perfect book to bring.

On one of my bookshelves, I found this little pretty.  I honestly don’t remember ever buying or getting this book.   But, oh how I knew this was the one to pick up.  Living in my questions and wrestling with a range of emotions leaves a girl a bit raw.  Finding a way to navigate the “yes and’s” of God and life.  Yes, God is good and Yes, God did not swoop down how you thought He should.   Yes, you are girly and yes, you are sporty.

All of that to say that I’m barely forty pages in and my heart’s getting a booty kick as my lovely friend would say.  A heart booty kick and yet excitement to wrestle with God.  To lay out my questions bare and delve into what my emotions reveal about how I’m doing with God and how I see God.

I’m excited to keep on reading…even if it’s tough and literally is a kick to get out of my desert and embrace what God has for me even if it is letting Him change my desert to Eden.

So, what are you reading these days? Any heart booty kicks your way?

  1. I had to look up to and see how a recumbent bicycle was different than a regular one, lol.

Aside from that, wow! Those two quotes alone are giving me a good kick! Thanks for sharing, girl!
